Okay! Good question.
Our dream property has been purchased! And not by us.
We are still looking to build and grow community and still need everyone's help!
We did not want to take out a loan for this property and instead chose to crowd raise so that it belongs to the community. Then once it's time to build on the property, we won't be already attached to a large loan and will be able to build our own homes easily.
Business loans still require assets and collateral and this is a new entity with none of that. We do not want to be tied to loan payments, which is why we are purchasing in full, in cash. That way, once it's time for land stewards to build, they aren't already financially tied up with a business loan and have the freedom to take out other necessary loans to build their homes.
First, we are clear that humans cannot "own land". We cannot claim rights to Earth. It's hers, we are just living here. For that reason, you will see the term "steward" in place of ownership often.
Once we have found a slice of Earth we want to take to the next level, the Church entity, Villages in Sanctuary, along with their congregation will technically "own" the land on paper.
This home is reserved for our guests, visitors, and clients only. While stewards' homes are being built, they will have the option to stay in a portion of the home in the basement, but otherwise there will be no one living in the main house.
If we do not meet our goal, we intend to keep working until we do! We will continue to save funds raised when we do find the property, so we have it already in waiting. This money will not be spent at all in any way except to give to the property owners as we go. We will always be able to refund those who choose to be refunded.
We have formed as a 508c1 for now in an effort to cut down on the amount of red tape involved as a 501. We wanted to keep our rights as a Free church instead of a State Church. Our church will receive the same tax-exempt status and benefits as a 501(c)(3) organization, without the partnership of the government. You are still able to contribute/donate and utilize a tax write-off if necessary. In this model, we do not have to lose our voice! Once established and all set up on the property, we intend to explore our PMA options.
Spiritual? Yes.
Religious? Not necessarily.
We are a holistic inter-faith church and believe the church is about the people. We have differing spiritual backgrounds and practice differing beliefs and faiths. Some were a part of particular religions, some have matured spiritually as they continued to heal, some have undergone abusive religious trauma and are relearning what spirituality means to them. In all, we are committed to the Spiritual shift of consciousness in our community. Our church is absolutely NOT reserved for a particular religion. Most of all, we are accepting (with arms wide open) to those in any, all, or no religions. Rituals, ceremonies, circles, and spiritual events will be of no particular religion will be a large part of this endeavor. With that said, we do follow a doctrine and align with those principles listed under "The Church" tab.
